Duritiam Advances to its Final Phase: Three Years of Research into Improving Quince and Olive Quality

The Duritiam Project is focused on improving the potential quality and capabilities of quince and olive for different business destinations (e.g. EVOO elaboration, quince juice production and fruits valorisation). It enters its final stretch after concluding with the sampling and treatment of their third and final milestone.

Launched by Almazaras de la Subbética cooperative, Duritiam is a part of its firm commitment to agronomic innovation, sustainability and continuous improvement. The project focuses on optimising fruit quality through targeted fertilisation strategies, evaluating the application of microelements and melatonin at key moments of the vegetative cycle. Its goal: to improve essential parameters related to fruit quality, composition and physical properties. These are determinant factors to obtain high value-added products.

Three Years of Research to Obtain Robust and Comparable Results

With the completion of this last milestone, the third annual work cycle has followed the same systematic scheme of sampling, treatment and evaluations. This constant methodology over three years allows for the collection of robust, comparable and scientifically consistent data, essential for validating the real impact of the applied strategies.

Final Sample Analysis and Global Evaluation of the Project

After completing the field study phase, the technical team is now focused on the processing of the final samples and in detailed analysis of its results. This analytical phase is fundamental for correctly interpreting the data generated from both the final year and the project as a whole.

The overall analysis allows the team to:

  • Assess the real impact of the applied treatments.
  • Verify the degree of compliance with initial objectives.
  • Draw conclusions based on solid scientific data.
  • Lay the groundwork for final reports and future lines of research or knowledge transfer to the sector.

Duritiam Enters the Home Stretch With this, the Duritiam Project enters its final stages, focusing on the integration of results, scientific interpretation and the formulation of final conclusions. After three years of continuous work, Duritiam has consolidated its position as a benchmark initiative in applied agronomic research for olive tree and quince cultivation, contributing key knowledge to improve fruit quality and reinforce the sector’s competitiveness.
