MOSH MOAH POLLUTION MYTHS

The entry into force of the legislation on MOSH MOAH pollutants seems to be a fact from 2025.

At OFADE, we consider it of great importance that the producers and food packagers to trust companies that HAVE BEEN WORKING on this contamination for years and choose accurately the forums and agents that appear in these months regarding this imminent law. There are no miracles in the eradication of this contamination. Only the common sense, the choice of a very good work guide and the commitment of all parties involved to reduce MOSH MOAH level in food.

Here are some indications that we consider important:

  • In general terms, the quality of the product will be independent of the contamination that could be produced, but the producer scrupulous work of the producer will always help to protect these contaminated oils.
  • The absence contamination in an isolated batch will not excuse of the risk of future contamination in other batches, if the process is not really monitored by the producer.
  • The reduction of MOSH MOAH pollutant points in the process WILL be possible with the management monitoring and expertise of the whole critical points of the chain. Each step will be crucial.
  • The list of critical points is very long and each company will have to work on the most important ones. It will be difficult to eradicate all the points of contamination, but it is a reality to be able to reduce the level of risk.
  • Some scientific publications confirm that an idyllic laboratory or abencor process should not contribute contamination to the oil, but this process is not comparable to that of an industry. The design of each factory and the working methodology of all operators will be decisive in this contamination process.
  • The choice of the laboratory will be fundamental for the veracity of the results. It will be very important to work with laboratories with experience in the implementation of this method with so much uncertainty.
